Chido Govera presented at the Annual IWCABreakfast at Specialty Coffee Association of America Expo on April 26. Chido shared her story of growing up in poverty in Zimbabwe and how she learned to grow mushrooms to feed both her family and community. Chido designed a new way to cultivate mushrooms from coffee waste, which provided a self-sustaining answer to the problems wrought by poverty, gendered norms, economic immobility, and cultural barriers to self-actualization. She now travels the world sharing her model.
Annual IWCA Luncheon at National Coffee Association Convention

The Annual IWCA luncheon featured Linda Butler, Coffee Sustainability Manager for Nestlé S.A. Linda has worked in the coffee industry for more than 30 years and currently plays an important role as a core member of The Nescafé Plan, a global initiative that supports responsible farming, production and consumption. Linda spoke about her experiences working closely with coffee farmers to provide them with educations, training and technical assistance.
