Angelique’s Finest Wins the Fair Cups Audience Award at Berlin Coffee Week 2025

A celebration of women, coffee, and fair trade: Angelique’s Finest, coffee grown, roasted, and packaged entirely by women in Rwanda, was honored as Berlin’s Best Fair Trade Bean at the first-ever Fair Cups Competition during Berlin Coffee Week 2025.

The award, presented by Fairtrade Germany, the Berlin Fair Trade Action Alliance, and Röstwerk Berlin, marks a powerful moment for women in coffee and for all who champion ethical and sustainable sourcing.

A Spotlight on Fair Trade Excellence

Berlin Coffee Week has long been a gathering place for coffee lovers, roasters, and baristas to share innovation, sustainability, and connection. This year’s new addition, Berlin’s first Fair Cupping Competition, showcased just how exceptional Fairtrade coffee can be.

Four Berlin-based companies submitted their top Fairtrade beans for blind tasting. In the end, two winners were crowned:

  • Jury Prize: Karma Collective for their Honduras bean

  • Audience Award: Coffee Cooperative with Angelique’s Finest – Strong Women. Strong Coffee.

Strong Women, Strong Coffee

What makes Angelique’s Finest so special goes far beyond flavor. It’s produced by women’s cooperatives in Rwanda, who oversee every step — from cultivation to roasting to packaging. By managing the full value chain, they ensure more profit stays with the women who grow the coffee.

Each bag of Angelique’s Finest tells a story of empowerment, quality, and sustainability — proof that great coffee can uplift entire communities. The coffee’s smooth, chocolatey notes and balanced aroma have made it a local favorite in Berlin and a global example of fair, women-led entrepreneurship.

Fair Trade that Goes Further

Angelique’s Finest operates under both Fairtrade and Fair Chain principles, meaning producers retain ownership and control all the way to the final product. Through the Fairtrade Premium, cooperatives invest in education, health, and climate resilience projects, all while strengthening democratic leadership structures for women in coffee.

At its heart, Angelique’s Finest is a reminder that fair trade isn’t just about justice — it’s about quality, connection, and shared success.

Congratulations to the women behind Angelique’s Finest, whose hard work and leadership continue to inspire the global coffee community.
