Honoring Women Leaders in Salvadoran Coffee on Día de la Caficultura

October 11, 2025 | El Salvador

On this year's Día de la Caficultura—a national celebration of the people and traditions behind El Salvador's coffee industry—the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café recognized María Elena Botto for her leadership, service, and dedication to the cultivation of Salvadoran coffee.

As a longtime advocate for women in coffee and a dynamic leader at the helm of IWCA El Salvador, María Elena’s impact reaches far beyond the farm. Her work has strengthened local coffee communities, amplified the voices of women producers, and inspired the next generation of leaders in the value chain.

We also celebrate IWCA El Salvador members Annabella Daglio and Gisella Rivera, whose passion and contributions were lifted up by their peers and friends throughout the day. As Blanca Castro, IWCA’s Global President, shared in the celebratory messages:
"Latinas truly are something special. Gisella and María Elena represent us with strength and grace. Such immense pride! To these amazing women, all my admiration and love—we move forward together."

At IWCA, we believe that when women are empowered, entire communities thrive. We are proud to see our Chapter leaders honored for the deep and lasting change they continue to make.

Felicidades, María Elena, Gisella, and Annabella. You remind us what leadership rooted in care, commitment, and community looks like.
