Women in Coffee Ethiopia Welcomes Its New Board

IWCA Global is proud to celebrate an important milestone for one of our chapters in Africa and the Middle East. Women in Coffee Ethiopia (WiCE) has formally introduced its new Board, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for women across Ethiopia’s coffee sector.

The newly appointed leadership brings together a dedicated group of professionals committed to advancing opportunity, equity, and visibility for women throughout the Ethiopian coffee value chain.

Introducing the New WiCE Board

Women in Coffee Ethiopia’s new Board is led by:

  • Beamlak Melesse Bekele, Board President

  • Hiwot Amare, Vice President

  • Fiyameta Getachew, Secretary

Board Members:

  • Mehbuba

  • Yenework Biwota

Board Advisors:

  • Merhawit Hailu

  • Kidest Zewdu

Together, this leadership team will build on the strong foundation already established, advancing ongoing initiatives while introducing new projects designed to create greater access, foster innovation, and expand opportunities for women in Ethiopian coffee.

Building on a Strong Foundation

The new Board has expressed a clear commitment to continuing projects that directly benefit women in coffee, ensuring their sustainability and long-term impact. At the same time, they are looking ahead with energy and intention, developing new initiatives that will help women in Ethiopia’s coffee industry thrive, grow their reach, and strengthen their roles across the sector.

As this transition takes place, WiCE has also taken a moment to honor the outgoing Board members whose leadership and dedication laid the groundwork for today’s progress. Heartfelt thanks go to Sara Yirga, Ansha Yassin, Emebet Dinku, Zehara Ahmed, Hanan Million, and Kidist Birhane for their exceptional service and unwavering commitment to the mission of Women in Coffee Ethiopia.

Women in Coffee Ethiopia continues to thrive through collaboration with partners and institutions that share a commitment to empowering women and strengthening the coffee sector. As the new Board steps into leadership, Women in Coffee Ethiopia looks forward to working closely with its members, partners, and stakeholders to champion the vital role women play in Ethiopian coffee. This moment reflects both continuity and renewal, grounded in shared purpose and collective effort.
