IWCA Storytelling: Gabriela Osorio of IWCA Honduras Shares Her Coffee Journey

In this powerful IWCA storytelling session, Gabriela Osorio, General Manager of IWCA Honduras (AMUCAFE), reflects on her personal journey growing up in coffee, the challenges and innovations that have shaped her career, and the role of IWCA as a platform for empowerment.

Gabriela’s passion for coffee was sparked at an early age, working alongside her father to roast, bag, and sell coffee in Honduras. What began as a small family business evolved into a deep commitment to improve the visibility of Honduran coffee and the women who grow it.

As a member and now leader of IWCA Honduras, Gabriela highlights how networking and support through IWCA opened doors to new partnerships — including funding for a groundbreaking virtual reality project that brings visitors directly into the world of coffee farming. Her project allows people—both local and international—to experience a coffee farm year-round, even outside of harvest seasons, helping educate consumers and create stronger global connections.

Gabriela emphasizes how critical it is for consumers to understand the personal stories behind each cup of coffee, recognizing the lives and communities their purchases impact. While she acknowledges the privileges that helped her access education and opportunity, she advocates for expanding those pathways to other women producers who face greater obstacles.

This story is a beautiful example of how women in coffee are using innovation, leadership, and community to drive positive change for coffee-growing regions worldwide.
