IWCA Kenya Champions Inclusion at National Coffee Forum

On June 19, IWCA Kenya (AWICI) represented our network at the Journey to Inclusive and Sustainable Kenyan Coffee forum, organized by UNIDO Kenya in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The event brought together farmers, youth groups, financiers, exporters, roasters, policymakers, and regulators—all united by a shared vision: building a coffee sector that is inclusive, innovative, and sustainable at every level of the value chain.

“On June 19, representatives from IWCA Kenya (AWICI) were honored to join fellow stakeholders at the Journey to Inclusive and Sustainable Kenyan Coffee forum, organized by UNIDO Kenya in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),” shared the IWCA Kenya team.

Elevating Women’s Role in Coffee

As IWCA Global, we are proud to see our Kenyan chapter actively driving the message that a truly sustainable coffee economy cannot exist without the full participation of women and youth. At the forum, this principle was front and center—in discussions, exhibits, and presentations that explored how to open doors for women‑led enterprises, amplify youth innovation, and build systems that create community-led growth benefiting everyone.

A Full‑Sensory Celebration of Kenyan Coffee

The forum offered more than conversation. Attendees experienced Kenya’s coffee sector in vibrant, tangible ways:

  • Exhibition stalls showcased digital payment solutions, coffee-based cosmetics, and innovative value‑added products.

  • Participants explored raw beans, fresh grounds, and coffee‑infused pastries.

  • Cupping sessions featured expertly roasted blends while powerful stories echoed the potential of coffee to transform livelihoods.

Collaboration for Lasting Impact

AWICI’s active participation reflects IWCA’s global mission: connecting women in coffee to opportunities, resources, and platforms that strengthen their businesses and communities. By engaging in national and international forums like this one, IWCA Kenya ensures that women’s voices and youth perspectives are central to shaping Kenya’s coffee future.

“We cannot talk about an inclusive and sustainable coffee value chain without recognizing the effort and integration of women—and also the youth.”

Together, across our 36 chapters, we are building a movement that creates lasting impact—one story, one cup, one community at a time.
