Greece Chapter Spotlight:

Conversations That Travel from Origin to Cup at Athens Coffee Days

Sometimes impact begins with a conversation.

At Athens Coffee Days, organized by Nestlé Professional, IWCA Greece created space for exactly that—thoughtful dialogue, shared learning, and deeper understanding of the women shaping coffee at origin.

Savina Giachgia, an active member of IWCA Greece, sat down with Lina María Granados Uribe from IWCA Colombia for a focused conversation on the essential role of women producers in coffee-growing countries. The exchange brought visibility to the leadership, expertise, and lived realities of women whose work too often remains unseen within the global coffee system.

The conversation continued at the cupping table.

Participants were invited to taste four distinct coffees sourced from women-led IWCA farms across Colombia—each cup offering a sensory connection to the producers behind it. Together, dialogue and tasting transformed abstraction into experience, grounding global issues in flavor, craft, and human effort.

Events like Athens Coffee Days matter not only for who is present, but for what they make possible: moments where origin stories are centered, producer voices are amplified, and learning flows in both directions.

IWCA Greece extends heartfelt thanks to Nestlé Professional and Buondi Craft for their partnership and for actively supporting visibility and equity for women across the coffee value chain.

When conversations cross borders and cups tell stories, the industry moves forward—one exchange at a time.
