AWICI Engages Coffee Sector Stakeholders at Kenya’s 19th CRI Coffee Fair
In mid-February 2025, IWCA Kenya, formally called Association of Women in Coffee Industry (AWICI), participated in the 19th Coffee Research Institute (CRI) Coffee Fair, held February 13–14 under the theme Advancing Agricultural Innovation for Resilient Food Systems and Sustainable Livelihoods.
The CRI Coffee Fair remains one of Kenya’s most important convenings for the coffee sector, bringing together farmers alongside input suppliers, researchers, processors, marketers, and financial institutions. The event provides a critical space for sharing research, examining emerging technologies, and discussing practical solutions to the challenges facing coffee production and agricultural livelihoods.
AWICI’s participation reflected the chapter’s ongoing commitment to ensuring women are visible, informed, and engaged across every segment of the coffee value chain. By connecting directly with researchers, service providers, and market actors, AWICI continues to strengthen pathways for women to access knowledge, resources, and networks that support long-term participation and leadership in the sector.
The fair’s focus on innovation and resilience closely aligns with IWCA’s global priorities, particularly as climate pressure, market volatility, and shifting regulatory frameworks reshape the realities of coffee farming. Engagement at forums like CRI enables IWCA chapters to remain grounded in current research while contributing women’s perspectives to sector-wide conversations about sustainability and economic viability.
