Standing With Jamaica: A Community-Led Recovery Effort

When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica earlier this fall, the damage to homes, farms, and community infrastructure was immediate and profound. Among those most affected were women in coffee. Many saw their harvest disrupted, their equipment destroyed, and their income put at risk for the season ahead.

In moments like these, the strength of the IWCA network becomes clear. Chapters do not stand alone. When one community is hit, the others lean in.

The IWCA US Chapter has stepped forward to lead a fundraising effort that will provide Jamaica’s members with direct financial support as they rebuild. Every dollar raised will go straight to the Jamaica Chapter, where leaders on the ground will allocate funds to the most urgent needs. That flexibility allows them to act quickly, restore essential tools and structures, and stabilize the livelihoods of the women producers who keep their communities running.

Recovery is not only about repairing physical damage. It is about protecting the ability of women to participate fully in the coffee value chain, stay connected to markets, and preserve the economic stability their families rely on. When those foundations are shaken, the entire ecosystem feels it.

When women are linked by purpose, recovery becomes a shared effort

This campaign shows the IWCA network at its strongest. Our chapters function as bridges, linking women who might never meet but who share the same commitment to resilience and progress. When one side of the bridge is shaken, the rest holds firm. Chapters support chapters. Women uplift women. A global community steps forward together.

Your contribution provides real, tangible relief for the women of IWCA Jamaica. It helps restore tools, rebuild small farm structures, and bridge income gaps created by the hurricane’s disruption. Most importantly, it shows our colleagues in Jamaica that the global IWCA community is at their side for the long road ahead.
